Self-ignition temperature: Approximately 240ºC
Soluble in organic solvents, insoluble in water.
HazardsReducing agent. Do not store together with peroxides. Never add to peroxide! Decomposition products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, copper oxide.
Dermal : skin irritant.
Eyes :an eye irritant.
Respiratory tract: may cause depression of the central nervous system. May cause drowsiness or dizziness.
Gastrointestinal System: may cause depression of the central nervous system. May be fatal if swallowed and enters through the respiratory tract. Irritates the mouth, throat and stomach.
Ames test: non-mutagenic
ApplicationOrganic copper compounds are used as wood preservatives. A solution of copper (II) 2-ethylhexanoate 6% is also used in the production of unsaturated polyester resins.
